A newly resurfaced email from Jeffrey Epstein is drawing fresh attention after appearing in a large set of documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice in early 2026. The message has spread widely on social media due to its casual tone and disturbing subject matter.

The email exchange is dated December 28, 2018, and appears in the DOJ’s Epstein document archive. It was sent from an email address that has been previously linked to Epstein through other released records.

In the message, Epstein describes a recent Skype conversation with a woman who contacted him through a mutual connection. According to Epstein, the woman said she was working on a movie about sex trafficking and had met a former victim connected to a powerful man who owned a private island.

Epstein claims the woman did not realize she was speaking directly to the person at the center of her story. He wrote that when he revealed his identity, she appeared to be shocked by the realization.

The email makes indirect references that many readers believe point to Epstein’s private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Epstein does not deny or challenge the allegations mentioned in the conversation. Instead, he presents the encounter in a casual and almost joking manner.

The message ends with informal and crude language, which has fueled criticism online. Many social media users say the tone shows a lack of remorse and highlights how openly Epstein discussed serious accusations.

The Department of Justice has stated that documents in the release are raw archival material. Their inclusion does not mean the claims inside are verified or proven. Many files contain unconfirmed stories, personal messages, or secondhand accounts.

As of February 8, 2026, no major news outlet has confirmed the identity of the filmmaker or verified the incident described in the email. The document remains publicly accessible in the DOJ archive as part of the ongoing Epstein files release.
