Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI is officially locked in for a November 19, 2026 release, according to Take-Two Interactive’s latest Q3 fiscal 2026 earnings report. The company signaled strong confidence in the date, suggesting the long-awaited title is now deep into its final polish phase.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said the project has reached a point where delays are no longer expected. He noted that Rockstar’s development progress and upcoming promotional plans reflect the highest possible confidence heading into launch.
A major marketing campaign for GTA 6 is set to begin this summer. Take-Two described the rollout as “launch marketing,” a term that typically indicates trailers, screenshots, and other major promotional beats are imminent. In an interview, Zelnick said that approaching these marketing milestones is a clear sign the game is on schedule.
Fans believe this marketing push could include the release of a third trailer, following Rockstar’s established pattern with past titles such as GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, where final trailers were released months before launch.
Take-Two also confirmed that GTA 6 will not be a digital-only release. Physical copies will be available on day one alongside digital versions, dismissing rumors that boxed editions might be delayed to prevent leaks. While not officially confirmed, standard physical editions are expected to include a printed map, continuing Rockstar’s long-standing tradition.
Zelnick also made it clear that generative AI is not being used in the development of GTA 6. He emphasized that Rockstar’s worlds are built by hand, street by street and building by building. While Take-Two supports AI tools for efficiency across its studios, GTA 6 relies on traditional development methods and established NPC systems rather than AI-generated content.
The November release date follows earlier delays from Fall 2025 to May 2026, and then to November, allowing additional time to refine the Vice City-inspired open world starring protagonists Jason and Lucia.
With GTA V now surpassing 225 million copies sold, expectations for GTA 6 remain extremely high. As summer approaches, fans can expect a steady flow of trailers, screenshots, and pre-order announcements, setting the stage for one of the biggest game launches in history.
