Apple Prepares Budget MacBook Pro With A18 Chip for 2026

Cheaper MacBook with A18 Pro

Apple plans to release a low-cost MacBook in 2026. The new device will compete with cheaper Chromebooks and Windows laptops. It will likely be priced below the current $999 MacBook Air.

The MacBook is expected to have a 13-inch display, slightly smaller than the MacBook Air. It will use a standard LCD, without mini-LED or ProMotion. Apple may offer bright colors like silver, pink, blue, and yellow. The casing could be plastic to keep costs low.

The device will run Apple’s A18 Pro chip, first seen in the iPhone 16 Pro. Benchmarks show it has single-core performance similar to the M3 Ultra and multi-core speeds above the M1. It can handle everyday tasks, light video editing, and even iPhone/iPad games.

Apple may include only one or two USB-C ports. Battery life is expected to match or exceed the MacBook Air’s 15–18 hours. The MacBook will support macOS apps, Apple Intelligence features, and Apple Arcade games.

Price details are unclear, but it should cost well under $1,000. Analysts suggest it could fall between $499 and $799, fitting between the iPad mini and iPad Air in Apple’s lineup.

The low-cost MacBook is expected to launch in the first half of 2026. It will give users a lightweight, affordable option for web browsing, streaming, homework, and productivity tasks.
