A 34-year-old woman has been arrested in Miami on charges of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy and threatening to harm his mother if he spoke about the abuse, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Police identified the suspect as Jessica Marie Torres, who was taken into custody on August 25 following an investigation by the department’s Special Victims Unit.
The assault allegedly occurred on August 15 at a residence in Miami-Dade County. Authorities say Torres coerced the boy into sexual acts and threatened to kill his mother if he revealed what had happened. The victim later confided in a family member, who reported the incident to police.
Torres faces charges of sexual battery on a minor (a first-degree felony) and making criminal threats (a second-degree felony). She is being held without bond at the Miami-Dade County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in court on September 3, 2025.
Detectives also recovered text messages in which Torres allegedly repeated threats against the boy’s family. The victim’s mother, whose identity is being withheld for privacy reasons, told police that her son has been deeply traumatized by the incident.
Authorities are investigating whether Torres may have other victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The Miami-Dade Police Department has partnered with local organizations to provide support for the victim and his family. Survivors of sexual assault can seek confidential help by contacting the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 800-656-HOPE or visiting rainn.org.
