Meta Signs $10 Billion Google Cloud Deal, Partners with Midjourney for AI

Meta + Google Cloud + Midjourney

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has taken major steps to grow its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities with two significant agreements. The company signed a $10 billion partnership with Google for cloud services and a technical collaboration with generative AI lab Midjourney.

The deal with Google, reported by Reuters, gives Meta access to Google Cloud’s servers, storage, networking, and other services. The six-year agreement will help Meta support the large infrastructure required for its AI projects, while the company seeks to offload $2 billion in data center assets.

Separately, Meta partnered with Midjourney to license its “aesthetic technology” for future AI products. The collaboration combines the research teams from both companies to improve AI-generated images and enhance user experiences.

Alexandr Wang, Meta’s chief AI officer, described Midjourney’s work as “technical and aesthetic excellence” and said the partnership aims to “bring beauty to billions.”

These moves are part of Meta’s broader AI restructuring under the new Meta SuperIntelligence Labs. The company is also recruiting top talent from competitors, including OpenAI, signaling a strong push to stay competitive in the rapidly evolving AI sector.
