British neo-soul singer Olivia Dean

British neo-soul singer Olivia Dean has reached the #1 spot on Spotify’s Top Songs Debut Global chart with her new single, “Man I Need,” for the weekend of August 16–17, 2025.

The track was released on August 15 via Island Records and is the third single from her second album, The Art of Loving, due on September 26, 2025.

The song features an upbeat, danceable rhythm and lyrics about clear love and communication. Dean described it as “forward, sexy, fun” and “made for dancing,” emphasizing self-worth and knowing how to be loved.

Its music video, directed by Jake Erland, reflects the song’s vibrant energy and continues the style of her previous singles, “Nice to Each Other” and “Lady Lady.”

“Man I Need” also entered the UK Official Singles Chart at #8 on the First Look chart within 48 hours of release. With over 13.8 million monthly Spotify listeners, Dean’s global fanbase has helped the song rise quickly. Social media users have praised it as a “feel-good banger” with a soulful yet modern sound.

Dean, a multi-BRIT Award and Mercury Prize nominee, rose to fame with her 2023 debut album, Messy. She recently collaborated with Sam Fender on “Rein Me In” and contributed to the Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy soundtrack.

She has also toured internationally, supporting artists such as Sam Fender and Sabrina Carpenter, with upcoming shows at Madison Square Garden and Austin City Limits.

The success of “Man I Need” highlights Dean’s ability to blend neo-soul, pop, and R&B, drawing comparisons to icons like Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse. As her album release nears, the single’s global debut marks a major milestone in her career.
