Apple’s software chief, Craig Federighi, shared encouraging news about Siri’s future at a recent company all-hands meeting. Despite some recent challenges with the voice assistant, Federighi said that a major upgrade is coming—bigger than Apple initially planned.

Federighi told Apple employees that the team’s work on a complete redesign of Siri has delivered the results they needed. He added that the upcoming update will be more significant than previously announced. “There is no project people are taking more seriously,” he said.

Last year, Apple introduced a more personalized Siri with AI features during the iOS 18 update, but those improvements didn’t meet Apple’s quality standards. As a result, the company shifted to a new system architecture for Siri.

The new Siri enhancements are expected to arrive sometime in 2026, possibly in iOS 26.4. Federighi’s remarks suggest these improvements will be part of a wider, deeper upgrade to the assistant’s capabilities.

Apple is yet to reveal specific details or a firm release date, but the company is clearly committed to making Siri better in the near future.
