New AI Animation Platform Faces Doubts, Even From Its CEO

Fable Slop

A new startup called Fable has created a platform named Showrunner. It lets users make short animated shows using AI tools. Amazon is investing in this company, but even the CEO, Edward Saatchi, admits he is not sure if people want it.

Showrunner is described as “Netflix for AI.” It is still in beta, and users are trying to create episodes for two shows: a tech satire called Exit Valley and a sci-fi comedy about a couple lost in IKEA.

Some user-made clips include strange AI-generated scenes like Ali G asking Joe Biden to buy pictures or Joe Rogan and Donald Trump arguing. But many people find these clips not funny and awkward.

Saatchi says the platform is different because it is interactive, like a video game, where users can create and change scenes quickly. He hopes Showrunner will one day offer millions of scenes owned by big companies like Disney.

Fable plans to charge users monthly fees. Part of the money will go to companies like Disney, which it is talking to about licensing. The platform also has rules to keep stories consistent and avoid copying others’ work.

However, the AI animations already look very similar to popular shows like those on Fox. This might cause legal problems since some studios are already suing AI companies for using their content without permission.
