Tyrese Gibson, actor and singer, may face up to 20 days in jail after his ex-wife, Samantha Lee, filed a fourth motion to hold him in criminal contempt. Court documents show Gibson owes $492,651.99 in unpaid legal fees from their 2020 divorce case.
The fees belong to The Gleklen Law Firm and Bloom Lines Alexander. Lee’s lawyers say Gibson has ignored court-ordered payments while still spending money on luxury vacations and an expensive lifestyle.
Gibson, 45, and Lee share a 5-year-old daughter, Soraya. They were married from 2017 until their divorce in 2020. This legal battle is not new. In September 2024, Gibson was arrested for contempt after failing to pay $73,525 in child support and legal fees. He was released after making a payment. A lien was also placed on his Atlanta home in 2024 for $217,231 in unpaid fees.
Gibson claims a prenuptial agreement should protect him from paying these fees. He also accuses Judge Kevin M. Farmer of bias and says the judge is working unfairly with Lee’s lawyers. Gibson has appealed decisions and asked twice for the judge to be removed, but both requests were denied.
Lee, who makes about $150,000 a year from social media, said on a 2023 podcast that divorcing Gibson might have been a quick decision. However, she still stands by her legal claims. Gibson argues that the child support of $10,690 a month and fees are too high, especially with Hollywood strikes affecting his income.
