England’s women’s football team won UEFA Women's Euro 2025

England’s women’s football team, the Lionesses, have won the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 final against Spain. The match took place on July 27 at St. Jakob-Park in Basel, Switzerland.

The game ended 1-1 after regular and extra time. England won 3-1 in the penalty shootout, with Chloe Kelly scoring the final and decisive penalty.

Beth Mead gave England the lead in the 38th minute after a cross from Lauren Hemp. Spain responded in the 67th minute with a header from Salma Paralluelo. Both teams had chances to win, but the match remained level.

In the penalty shootout, England’s Alessia Russo, Georgia Stanway, and Chloe Kelly scored. Spain’s Aitana Bonmatí missed her shot, helping England secure the victory.

England manager Sarina Wiegman celebrated her third UEFA Women’s Euro title. She also led England in 2022 and the Netherlands in 2017. Her calm leadership and tactical skill were praised by fans and players.

The win sparked celebrations across England. Thousands of fans gathered in London and Manchester to cheer for the team. The match is expected to break viewership records, marking another major moment for women’s football.

This is England’s second consecutive European title. The team will now look ahead to the 2026 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
