Toyota Recalls Nearly 70,000 Cars in Australia Over Dashboard Display Fault

Toyota Australia has issued a safety recall for nearly 70,000 vehicles due to a fault in the 12.3-inch instrument panel display. The issue affects some popular models produced between July 2022 and April 2025, though not every vehicle manufactured during that period is involved.

The recall covers various models, including the Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Kluger, GR Yaris, GR Corolla, Corolla Cross, and C-HR Hybrid.

What Is the Problem?

The affected vehicles are equipped with a 12.3-inch digital display that shows important information such as speed, fuel levels, and warning lights. According to Toyota, there is a risk that the screen may remain blank when the vehicle starts. This could prevent drivers from seeing critical information, though the vehicles are still drivable.

Toyota advises owners to contact their local dealership immediately if they experience the issue.

What Should Owners Do?

Toyota dealers will contact affected owners directly. However, owners are also encouraged to check if their vehicle is part of the recall by using their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The VIN is a 17-digit code that can usually be found on the vehicle’s registration papers or inside the car.

Toyota has set up a recall helpline at 1800 987 366, available Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm AEST.

How Will Toyota Fix the Issue?

Dealers will update the software for the display system free of charge. The fix will take between 1 to 2.5 hours, depending on the vehicle model. However, Toyota warns that depending on dealer availability, owners may need to leave their vehicles for a longer period.

Toyota urges all owners to keep their contact details updated to receive future recall information.
