Google Launches AI That Calls Businesses Plus Premium Search Features for Subscribers

Google has begun rolling out advanced artificial intelligence features to its Search platform, including premium AI capabilities for paying subscribers and automated business calling for all US users.

The company is introducing Gemini 2.5 Pro access and Deep Search functionality to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the United States. These features were first announced at Google’s I/O developer conference in May.

Paying subscribers can now access Gemini 2.5 Pro through AI Mode for complex reasoning, mathematics, and coding queries. Users will see a new model picker allowing them to switch between the default Gemini 2 model for general assistance and the more advanced 2.5 Pro version.

Deep Search, which uses Gemini 2.5 Pro, enables users to ask sophisticated questions and receive detailed, comprehensive responses after several minutes of processing. The system conducts “hundreds of searches” behind the scenes and analyses disparate information sources to generate fully-cited reports.

According to Google, Deep Search proves particularly useful for in-depth research related to work, hobbies, or studies, as well as major life decisions such as home purchases or financial analysis. The feature is initially available on desktop web browsers.

The premium features require existing AI Mode experiment access through Google Labs, with AI Ultra subscribers receiving the highest usage limits. Google indicated it plans to expand these capabilities to more users globally but did not provide specific timelines.

For all US users, Google is launching agentic AI calling capabilities that allow Search to contact businesses automatically to check pricing and availability. Users can search for services like “pet groomers near me” and select “Have AI check pricing” to trigger the automated calling process.

The system asks users to complete a questionnaire covering pet type, required services, timing preferences, and contact information before making calls on their behalf. The feature combines Gemini AI models with Google’s Duplex technology, previously tested in Labs as “Ask for me.”

Businesses maintain control over the feature through their Business Profile settings, and higher usage limits apply to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers.
