Samsung is developing its next generation of high-end smartphones, the Galaxy S26 series, under the internal codename “Next Paradigm,” according to new reports from tech databases. The lineup will likely be launched in early 2026, following Samsung’s usual release schedule.
Three Models Planned: S26, S26 Edge/Plus, and S26 Ultra
Samsung is preparing three models in the Galaxy S26 series. Internally, they are referred to as NPA1, NPA2, and NPA3.
- NPA1 is expected to be the base Galaxy S26.
- NPA2 appears to be a “mid-range” flagship, potentially branded as the Galaxy S26 Edge or Plus.
- NPA3 is believed to be the top model, the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
This follows Samsung’s tradition of assigning internal codes to its smartphone series. The Galaxy S25 series, for example, used the abbreviation “PA” for “Paradigm,” while the S26’s “NPA” likely stands for “Next Paradigm.”
S26 Ultra to Feature Advanced Camera System
The Galaxy S26 Ultra (NPA3) will reportedly include a 200-megapixel main camera, using a new Sony sensor. It will also feature a 50-megapixel telephoto lens and 5x optical zoom. An ultra-wide-angle camera is planned, although its resolution has not yet been confirmed.
These upgrades suggest that Samsung is focusing heavily on improving photography features in its next flagship.
50-Megapixel Ultra-Wide Camera for S26 Edge/Plus
The mid-range model, referred to as NPA2, will include a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. This is a significant improvement compared to the 12-megapixel ultra-wide cameras found in the current Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Edge models.
This change may indicate that Samsung is positioning the S26 Edge or Plus to stand apart from the base model more clearly than in previous years.
Possible Discontinuation of the “Plus” Model
There is no detailed camera information yet for the standard S26 (NPA1). Some experts believe this could support recent rumors that Samsung plans to replace the traditional “Plus” model with the “Edge” variant. In 2025, Samsung already introduced the Galaxy S25 Edge as a thinner alternative to the S25 Plus, after Plus models reportedly sold poorly in past years.
Launch Expected in Early 2026
Samsung has not officially confirmed the Galaxy S26 series, but if the company follows its usual pattern, the devices will likely launch in about six months. The current information comes from publicly accessible supplier databases, making it more reliable than typical online leaks.
