How Often Should You Masturbate? Doctor Gives Clear Answer

Masturbation

A medical expert has said there is no set limit on how often a person should masturbate, as long as it doesn’t interfere with everyday life.

In a video shared on her YouTube channel, Dr. Jen Claude explained that masturbation is a normal and healthy activity for many people. She stressed that it can be part of a fulfilling and balanced lifestyle.

“There’s no upper or lower limit,” said Dr. Claude. “Some people do it several times a day, others just a few times a month. It depends on the person, their mood, and their lifestyle.”

However, she added one important condition: “It’s only a problem if it affects your mental health, your relationships, your job, or your ability to live a healthy, productive life.”

Dr. Claude warned that if someone feels their behavior has become compulsive or harmful, they should speak to a licensed mental health professional.

What Happens When You Stop?

Some people choose to take breaks from masturbation, often as part of personal challenges like “No Nut November.” According to sex experts, stopping might cause short-term effects such as mood swings or stronger sexual urges.

However, in the long term, some people may experience benefits, such as improved self-control or better sexual experiences with partners.

Dr. Claude noted that every individual is different and what works for one person may not work for another. “There’s no need to feel shame — it’s all about balance and making sure your choices support your well-being,” she said.
