Huawei is preparing to launch its next flagship chip, the Kirin 9030, which could deliver a 20% performance increase over its current Kirin 9020 model. The Kirin 9020, featured in the recent Pura 80 series and last year’s Mate 70 lineup, already offers significant improvements compared to older chips.
According to a recent leak shared by Huawei Central, the Kirin 9030 is anticipated to debut later this year with the Mate 80 series. If the claims hold true, this new chip could outperform the Kirin 9000s 5G by up to 50–60%. However, experts advise caution as these figures come from unverified sources.
The Kirin 9030 is expected to be one of four major flagship chips arriving in late 2025, according to reliable leaker Digital Chat Station. While Huawei’s new chip may not yet match the top processors from Qualcomm or Apple, the company’s progress in chip manufacturing is noteworthy.
Reports suggest Huawei’s Kirin X90 chip is already being produced using a 5-nanometer (nm) process. If confirmed, this would mark a significant achievement for Huawei’s in-house chip production capabilities.
Beyond hardware, Huawei has focused heavily on software optimization. For example, the Kirin 9010 chip in the Mate X5 foldable powers three displays smoothly despite the high demand on processing power.
