Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 series this September, with notable differences between the Pro and Pro Max models this year — especially regarding size and battery life.
As usual, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be larger than the Pro model:
- iPhone 17 Pro: 6.3-inch display
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 6.9-inch display
The bigger physical size of the Pro Max allows for a larger battery, which typically means longer battery life.
This year, rumors suggest the Pro Max will be approximately 5% thicker than its predecessor (the iPhone 16 Pro Max) to fit an even larger battery, reportedly reaching 5,000 mAh compared to 4,676 mAh in last year’s Pro Max. The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to maintain a similar thickness to the iPhone 16 Pro.
Unlike some previous years where the Pro Max had exclusive camera features, this year both models are expected to share the same camera setup:
- Triple 48-megapixel rear cameras
- Upgraded 24-megapixel front camera
Earlier reports suggested a smaller Dynamic Island cutout on the Pro Max, but this might be delayed until next year. If introduced this year, the smaller Dynamic Island would likely appear on all iPhone 17 models.
In summary, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will primarily stand out for its larger display and longer battery life, while other features will remain largely consistent with the iPhone 17 Pro.
