Squid Game Season 3 Teaser - Netflix

Squid Game Season 3 First Look: Gi-hun Back in the Deadly Game

Fans of Squid Game got an early treat: Netflix released the first six minutes of the highly anticipated Season 3 premiere ahead of its official debut on June 27, 2025.

The sneak peek shows the return of Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), the series’ main character, who was last seen leading a failed rebellion in Season 2.

In a dramatic scene, the Pink Guards bring Gi-hun back to the Squid Game dormitory inside one of the signature gift-box coffins usually reserved for eliminated players. His fellow contestants are shocked but relieved to see him alive.

Lee Jung-jae described filming the return as surreal, saying, “When the coffin is opened, Gi-hun is reborn. He has to go back to the competition, play the game again, and make choices again.”

Season 3 promises deadlier games and higher stakes. The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), the imposing overseer of the competition, will push Gi-hun to his limits. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk explains that the Front Man’s decision to send Gi-hun back alive is part of a larger plan. “He wants Gi-hun to feel the heavy price of his own mistakes and lose faith in humanity and himself,” said Hwang.

Lee Byung-hun added that the Front Man hopes to break Gi-hun’s noble spirit and convince him to think like a champion. This battle of wills between the two former champions lies at the heart of the new season.

The sneak peek also gives a glimpse of detective Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun) aboard a rescue boat, hinting at more twists to come.

Squid Game Season 3, the final installment of the hit series, launches on Netflix on June 27, 2025. Fans eager to see how the deadly games end won’t have to wait much longer.
