AMC Theatres is now officially informing customers that its listed movie showtimes include 25 to 30 minutes of previews and preshow content before the actual film begins. The reminder is now prominently displayed on AMC’s website and ticketing pages to set clearer expectations for moviegoers.
The extended preshow includes trailers and ads, meaning films will start well after the posted showtime. Beginning July 1, 2025, AMC will also add an extra commercial to its preshow lineup, following a new advertising agreement with National CineMedia Inc. This deal is part of AMC’s effort to increase revenue by sharing profits from additional ad placements.
While this move may benefit AMC financially, it has sparked frustration among some movie fans who feel the wait before the feature is getting too long. Still, AMC maintains that the change allows it to keep ticket prices stable and improve in-theater experiences.
Moviegoers are now advised to plan accordingly—arriving at the posted showtime may mean sitting through half an hour of ads and trailers before the main feature begins.
