Google Pixel Camera 9.9 Update

Google has released Pixel Camera 9.9, bringing changes that will disappoint some users. The update removes the Social Share feature and makes small tweaks to timer icons.

Social Share Feature Disappears

The biggest change in Pixel Camera 9.9 is the removal of Social Share. This feature let users swipe up on their last photo to quickly send it to apps like WhatsApp or use Quick Share.

Google appears to have removed this feature on purpose. The company has not explained why they made this decision.

Many users found Social Share helpful for quickly sharing photos without leaving the camera app. The feature became less useful earlier this year when WhatsApp stopped working with it.

Timer Icons Get Small Update

The update also changes the timer icons. Google made the numbers 3, 5, and 10 easier to see on the timer buttons. The change is small but should help users select the right timer setting.

Missing Education Hub

Google announced an “education hub” feature in June 2025, but it is not available yet. This feature will add a question mark button to the camera screen. Tapping it will show tips and examples for taking better photos.

The education hub will work on Pixel 6 phones and newer models. Google will likely add it through a server update later.

Wide Release

Pixel Camera 9.9 started rolling out earlier this month. The update is now available to most users through the Google Play Store.
