Dune: Messiah

Robert Pattinson Rumored to Join “Dune: Messiah” Villain Role

Filming for Dune: Messiah (also called Dune Part Three) will begin on July 7, 2025, in Hungary, likely at Origo Studios. Earlier reports suggested filming might start in June, but the confirmed date is now early July.

Director Denis Villeneuve returns to lead the final film in his Dune trilogy. The movie stars Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, and also features Anya Taylor-Joy, Rebecca Ferguson, and Robert Pattinson in a rumored villain role.

The story follows Paul Atreides as Emperor. It explores his struggles with power, political challenges, and threats to his family. The film adapts the 1969 sequel novel, Dune Messiah, by Frank Herbert.

Filming will take place mainly in Budapest, Hungary, continuing the series’ established production base. Linus Sandgren will replace Greig Fraser as director of photography. Composer Hans Zimmer is expected to return for the soundtrack.

The movie is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 18, 2026. Production will be extensive, covering multiple locations and months. This final film will have a darker and more complex tone than the previous movies, matching the original novel’s themes.
