Fake Dentist in Czech Republic Made $185,000 Before Arrest

A 22-year-old man in the Czech Republic has been arrested after pretending to be a dentist for more than two years. Police say he treated dozens of patients without any formal training, relying only on online tutorials for guidance.

The man set up a fully equipped dental clinic inside a residential property in Havlíčkův Brod in 2023. He performed difficult procedures like tooth extractions, root canals, and even used anesthesia — all without any medical license.

Two family members helped him run the illegal clinic. A 50-year-old woman with past healthcare experience acted as his nurse. She supplied anesthesia, fillings, and other dental materials. A 44-year-old man helped by making dental prosthetics and providing the location for the clinic.

Together, they earned about 4 million Czech koruna (around $185,500) from their illegal practice. They were arrested in June 2025 and now face charges of illegal business, money laundering, attempted battery, drug dealing, and theft. All three have admitted to their crimes. If found guilty, they could each face up to eight years in prison.

Authorities have not confirmed whether any patients were harmed. However, this case has raised concerns about weak oversight in dental care, especially during a dentist shortage in the Czech Republic. In response to the shortage, the Czech parliament relaxed rules for hiring foreign dentists last year.

The investigation continues.
