Xiaomi chief enters the Huawei smartphone store to check the Pura 80

Xiaomi’s General Manager of Redmi and head of marketing for Xiaomi China, Wang Teng, was recently seen visiting a Huawei smartphone store to check out the new Huawei Pura 80 series.

The visit happened in Luoyang, China. A popular Weibo tipster shared photos of Wang Teng at the store, happily talking with Huawei staff and examining the display models of the Pura 80 smartphones.

The tipster explained that they visited several Xiaomi stores first, but then went to the Huawei store next door to look at the competition. “It’s important to focus on making good products ourselves, but also to keep an eye on competitors,” the tipster quoted.

The Huawei Pura 80 series is getting attention for its innovative camera system, especially the Pura 80 Ultra, which features a dual switchable telephoto lens — a first in the smartphone world. It also comes with HarmonyOS 5.1, offering new themes and security features.

Huawei plans to roll out HarmonyOS 5.1 to other devices soon.

This visit shows that even rival companies like Xiaomi are curious about Huawei’s latest innovations, especially as Huawei works to regain its smartphone market share in China.
