Apple Just Launched a New Games App — Here’s What You Need to Know

Apple Games App

Apple is making a serious move in gaming. At WWDC 2025, the company announced a new app called Games. It will arrive this fall with macOS Tahoe 26 and iOS 26 on Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

The app is basically an improved version of Game Center, which Apple introduced about 15 years ago but never really updated.

The new Games app looks and feels like a modern gaming hub, similar to Xbox or GOG Galaxy. It lets users track leaderboards, join multiplayer games, get recommendations, read gaming news, and launch games right from the app. Unsurprisingly, it connects directly to Apple Arcade too.

You can now see what your friends are playing and challenge them to beat your high scores. The library tab will show every game you’ve downloaded from the App Store, making it easy to launch them from one place.

For Mac users, Apple is adding a Games overlay. It lets players quickly adjust settings like volume, Bluetooth, and battery life while playing.

Apple has been focusing more on gaming recently. Big titles like Resident Evil Village, Death Stranding, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage are now available on iPhone and Mac. Even the Hitman trilogy is coming to Apple devices this summer.

Apple’s gaming efforts don’t stop there. Last month, they bought their first gaming studio, RAC7, the creators of Sneaky Sasquatch. Plus, Apple continues its legal battle with Epic Games over App Store policies, but Fortnite is finally back on iPhones.

With the launch of the Games app, it’s clear Apple wants to make gaming a bigger part of its ecosystem.

The future of gaming on Apple devices just got a lot more interesting.
