T-Mobile Restores Key Feature Customers Have Wanted Since 2022

T-Mobile has brought back a highly requested feature to its T-Life app — the ability to change your SIM card by yourself.

This feature was removed in 2022 to protect customers from SIM hijacking attacks, forcing users to call or visit stores to swap SIMs.

Now, with stronger security in place, T-Mobile feels confident enough to re-enable self-service SIM swaps.

Using the app, customers can now easily switch SIM cards by selecting their line, choosing “SIM transfer or activation,” and following the guided steps.

You’ll need to enter your device’s IMEI number to confirm whether it uses a physical SIM or eSIM. Then, you’ll add either the ICCID (for physical SIMs) or EID (for eSIMs) to complete the activation.

For now, this feature is only available for iPhone users, but it should come to Android soon with an app update.

Along with SIM swapping, the update also lets customers manage business accounts, buy accessories directly through the app, and has renamed the “VIP Status” tab to “Benefits.”

It’s clear that T-Mobile wants customers to rely more on the T-Life app for managing their accounts instead of visiting stores.
