Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has requested a mistrial in his ongoing sex trafficking case, claiming that a key witness gave false testimony in court.
The focus of this new legal move revolves around disputed claims about a balcony assault incident allegedly witnessed by singer Cassie Ventura.
What Did the Witness Say?
The mistrial request follows testimony from Bryana ‘Bana’ Bongolan, who told the court on June 4, 2025, that Diddy allegedly held her over a balcony during a confrontation in Los Angeles in September 2016.
“You know what the f*** you did,” Bongolan recalled Diddy shouting.
She testified that she was dangled over the edge for around 15 seconds, later suffering physical injuries and emotional trauma, including paranoia and night terrors.
What’s Diddy’s Defense?
Diddy’s lawyers argue that Cassie never actually witnessed the incident, despite previous claims. As evidence, they submitted a text message Cassie allegedly sent to one of Diddy’s employees, which read:
“I just found out some crazy s**.”*
The defense insists this proves that Cassie only heard about the incident afterward and could not have seen it firsthand.
Additionally, Diddy’s legal team claims that Bongolan was in Los Angeles while Diddy was somewhere else at the time of the alleged incident, arguing that the timeline doesn’t add up.
Why Is the Testimony Being Questioned?
During cross-examination, Bongolan admitted she was smoking weed during the incident, contradicting an earlier lawsuit where she claimed she was smoking a cigarette. This inconsistency, along with the alleged false testimony from Cassie, forms the basis of Diddy’s mistrial motion.
Bongolan first sued Diddy in 2023, and his legal team has consistently denied the allegations, calling them “offensive and outrageous.”
Is the Case Over Yet?
Not yet. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian has not ruled on this latest mistrial request. He previously denied a similar motion in May 2025, which was based on testimony about Kid Cudi’s car allegedly being blown up by Diddy.
For now, Diddy’s team accuses the prosecution of knowingly allowing false testimony in court, keeping the high-profile case in the spotlight.
