Apple is preparing to add exciting new features to its AirPods, which may be announced at WWDC 2025. These updates aim to improve user control and make the AirPods smarter.

One major change is new head gestures. Currently, users can nod their heads to accept or decline calls. Soon, Apple plans to add more head gesture controls, like adjusting volume during conversations without touching the AirPods.

Another feature is sleep auto-pause. Many people listen to music or podcasts as they fall asleep. Apple is working on detecting when a user falls asleep and automatically pausing playback. It might work alone or with the Apple Watch’s sleep tracking.

Apple is also bringing camera control to AirPods. This lets users take photos or start videos by clicking the AirPods stem, similar to older EarBuds. This will make remote photography easier.

Additionally, AirPods will get a new “studio quality” mic mode to improve sound during recordings, helping creators who use AirPods as microphones.

Apple is also improving how AirPods connect to shared iPads, especially in classrooms, to make the process smoother for multiple users.

These features may be announced at Apple’s WWDC keynote on June 9, 2025. The company often updates existing AirPods models with new software features, enhancing their value without new hardware.
