Judge Lewis Liman, overseeing the legal case between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively over the film It Ends with Us, denied a motion to compel Lively to release her therapy notes and medical records.
The motion was filed by Baldoni’s legal team, who argued they needed access to Lively’s records to defend against allegations. Lively’s lawyers accused Baldoni’s team of using the motion to sway public opinion through the media.
Judge Liman rejected the motion based on Lively’s statement that she planned to withdraw certain claims related to emotional distress.
However, he left the door open for the issue to be revisited if those claims are not formally dismissed. The judge also warned that if the emotional distress claims remain, Lively may be barred from presenting evidence on that matter.
The dispute stems from Lively’s December 2024 lawsuit accusing Baldoni and others of sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign against her. Baldoni has denied the allegations. Lively later amended her lawsuit with additional claims.
The judge’s ruling clarifies the current status of the case but leaves unresolved questions about Lively’s emotional distress claims and potential evidence disclosure.
