EA Cancels Black Panther Game, But Marvel Confirms 3-Game Deal Still Active

Despite EA shutting down Cliffhanger Games and cancelling its open-world Black Panther project, Marvel has confirmed that its three-game deal with EA remains intact.

The cancelled Black Panther title was expected to be the second game in a long-term collaboration between Marvel Games and EA, following the in-development Iron Man game by Motive Studio, best known for the Dead Space remake. A third game in the deal has yet to be officially announced.

Marvel told IGN that the partnership is still strong, emphasizing that the focus remains on original storytelling using beloved Marvel characters for PC and console platforms.

This reassurance comes after concerns surfaced following EA CEO Andrew Wilson’s recent comments about shifting away from developing future licensed IP. However, both EA and Marvel have confirmed that their joint plans are continuing.

Fans of Marvel games still have plenty to look forward to, including Marvel’s Blade from Arkane Studios, Wolverine from Insomniac Games, and Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, which features both Black Panther and Captain America.
