This week in tech news brings major moves from Apple, OnePlus, and Samsung. Here’s what you need to know.

Apple plans a big change to its operating system names. Starting at WWDC on June 9, the company will rename its OS versions by year instead of by number.

For example, instead of iOS 19, it will be iOS 26, skipping ahead to next year’s naming. This change aims to unify Apple’s ecosystem and simplify version names across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Watch.

OnePlus is embracing AI fully with the upcoming OnePlus 13s. It will feature a new customizable Plus Key” replacing the old alert slider.

This button launches AI-powered tools like AI Plus Mind, which can save screen content and help create calendar events automatically. OnePlus plans more AI features, including voice transcription, translation, and AI-based photo editing.

Samsung is gearing up to release its next generation of foldable phones this summer: the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. These devices will be the first to run Samsung’s new One UI 8 interface, based on Android 16.

Samsung confirmed the One UI 8 beta rollout will start soon for existing phones, but the foldables will debut with the fresh software.

Other highlights include Google Photos celebrating its 10th anniversary with new AI editing tools and a redesigned interface, plus Ricoh announcing the GR IV pocket camera with improved sensor, stabilization, and autofocus features, set to launch this fall.

Stay tuned for more updates as these products roll out over the coming months.
