Trump Clashes with Reporter Over ‘TACO Trade’ Nickname at Press Conference

President Donald Trump strongly reacted when a reporter called him by a mocking Wall Street nickname during a live press conference on May 28.

The reporter asked about the impact of Trump’s “tariff threats” on the stock market and mentioned the nickname “TACO trade,” which stands for “Trump Always Chickens Out.”

At first, Trump seemed confused by the nickname, which pokes fun at his decision to delay tariff deadlines. Once he understood, Trump said, “Six months ago, this country was stone-cold dead… And you ask a nasty question like that? Don’t ever say what you said. That’s a nasty question.”

This wasn’t the first time Trump clashed with reporters. Earlier, on May 20, he dismissed a journalist’s question about his support for a bill by telling the reporter, “Get yourself a real job.”

Trump’s sharp responses highlight his low tolerance for criticism during a period when his tariffs and trade policies have created mixed reactions in the markets.
