Week three of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking and racketeering trial brought more emotional testimony from Capricorn Clark, the hip-hop mogul’s former assistant.
Clark broke down multiple times as she described in detail several disturbing incidents, including Combs allegedly threatening to kill rapper Kid Cudi, holding her at gunpoint, and physically assaulting singer Cassie Ventura.
Clark reaffirmed her claim that Combs carried a gun during a 2011 break-in at Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi’s home. She said she feared for her life during the ordeal, telling the court, “I would be hurt” if she didn’t obey Combs’ demands.
Prosecutors emphasized that Clark, despite her return to work at Bad Boy Records, did so because Combs allegedly blocked her from finding other work in the music industry.
During a tense cross-examination, the defense presented emails Clark sent to Combs years after the alleged abuse, suggesting a cordial relationship.
One email from 2015 read, “Hopefully you’ll forgive me soon,” while another birthday message pleaded for friendship. Clark explained those messages as desperate attempts to reclaim her career and stability after years of abuse.
Clark also testified that Combs once told her and others that they lacked men because they wouldn’t obey like Cassie, whom he allegedly ordered to perform demeaning tasks in front of the group.
She described being shoved out of Combs’ Miami home after expressing frustration, saying the incident “crossed a boundary.” Despite this, Clark later returned to work for him.
One of the most shocking claims was that Combs kicked Ventura repeatedly in the street after discovering her relationship with Kid Cudi. “Each kick she would crouch more into a fetal position,” Clark said. She didn’t intervene because she feared Combs would turn on her.
Upcoming witnesses include a Los Angeles police officer, a fire department arson investigator, and other insiders from Combs’ circle, including an alleged second victim. Prosecutors stated their case is moving faster than expected and could conclude within five weeks.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges and denies the allegations, saying the relationships were consensual and his lifestyle misunderstood. His lawyer insists Combs is not guilty of trafficking or coercion but merely part of the swinger lifestyle.
