The creator and stars of Squid Game have confirmed that some fan theories about the upcoming third season are partly true. The final season will arrive on Netflix on June 27, 2025.
In a recent Netflix special, Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk and actors Lee Jung-jae (Gi-hun) and Lee Byung-hun (Front Man/In-ho) read popular fan predictions. While they did not reveal major spoilers, they said some ideas from fans are correct.
Fans guessed the next games might include Monkey Bars, Human Chess, and Yunnori. The creator said that while season 1 had clues on the walls, season 2’s wall drawings are not related to the games. Season 3 will have new surprises.

One fan theory suggested that Il-nam, the game’s original creator, might be the father of both Gi-hun and In-ho. The creators said this is unlikely and only meant to make fans think, not a confirmed fact.
Another popular theory is that Gi-hun will become the new Front Man after winning the game. The cast and creator said this idea is partly true but kept details secret. They discussed how power and human nature might affect Gi-hun’s choices.

Lee Byung-hun said the final season will be “more powerful and unpredictable.” He also said some fan theories are “half-right and half-wrong.” Lee Jung-jae added that the story will continue to explore human nature and moral challenges.
Fans can expect some of their guesses to come true, especially about the games and the conflict between Gi-hun and In-ho. But the show promises surprises that will keep viewers guessing.
Squid Game Season 3 will premiere on Netflix on June 27, 2025.
