BTS members Jimin and Jungkook were seen at Gimpo International Airport on May 23 and 24, sparking fan speculation about a possible upcoming BTS comeback or solo projects.
According to fans, Jungkook flew to Tokyo, with one lucky fan even getting an autograph from him at the terminal. Jimin’s destination wasn’t confirmed, but it’s believed he was also headed to Japan, given Gimpo’s short-haul international routes.
Both idols are currently on final military leave, with their official discharge date set for June 11, 2025. This status allows them to travel abroad with approval from the Military Manpower Administration (MMA). Final leave means they don’t need to return to base unless specifically called back, and discharge is usually processed quietly without a formal ceremony.
Fans quickly noticed Jungkook carrying a professional-grade camera bag, leading many to guess that he might be filming for a new project—possibly related to “Are You Sure?!”, the travel show he and Jimin filmed before enlistment.
This theory gained steam online, with many ARMYs asking:
“What are Jimin and Jungkook cooking up?”
Others guessed the two might be heading to j-hope’s concert on May 31 at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, part of his HOPE ON THE STAGE tour.
Before their enlistment, Jimin and Jungkook traveled to Japan in November 2023, filming “Are You Sure?!” with handheld cameras. That trip became the basis for their Disney+ travel show, which premiered on August 8, 2024, and followed their adventures across various Japanese cities.
With BTS expected to regroup by July 2025, these airport sightings have reignited excitement over solo projects, new content, or a full group comeback.
