Fans were surprised when BTS was unexpectedly mentioned during the jury selection for rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial in New York. But there’s no need for concern — the K-pop group is not involved in the case.
The trial, which began on May 12, involves serious charges against Diddy, including racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. As part of the process, potential jurors were asked about their musical interests and knowledge of celebrities.
That’s when BTS came up.
A potential juror mentioned her love for rock and hip-hop, adding that she was “actively watching concerts by BTS or Bangtan Boys.” The moment was shared by Stephanie Soo, a true-crime podcaster, who attended the jury selection and posted a detailed video online.
There is no connection between BTS and Diddy, other than the group once covering Puff Daddy’s “I’ll Be Missing You.” The juror’s comment was simply part of a routine question about music preferences.
Twelve main jurors and six alternates were selected for the case. Some of them expressed an interest in hip-hop, but no further mention of BTS was made in court documents or reports.
So, while BTS was briefly mentioned, they are not involved in the trial in any way. Fans can rest easy — the group remains focused on their upcoming projects, including Jin’s new album “Echo” and their scheduled reunion later this year.
