Jackie Chan’s upcoming action thriller “The Shadow’s Edge” is already attracting global attention. Golden Network Asia, the Hong Kong-based sales company, has secured international distribution deals across multiple territories for the film, which is currently in post-production.
Directed by Larry Yang, the film is being presented at the Cannes Film Market. It wrapped filming in Macau earlier this year. Key deals include Plaion Pictures for Germany, SPI International for Eastern Europe, and ATV for Turkey.
Other territories include Japan (The Klockworx), South Korea (NK Contents), Taiwan (Eagle Intl.), Singapore (Shaw Renters), Malaysia (Shanghai Pictures), Latin America (Great Movies), Indonesia (Prima Cinema), Cambodia & Myanmar (Abnormal Studios), and Mongolia (Izagur Media). Deals for CIS and Ukraine have also been finalized, while discussions for Benelux and more regions are ongoing.
In the film, Jackie Chan plays a retired surveillance expert from the Macau police who teams up with elite young detectives to stop a high-level criminal gang. This marks Chan’s second project with director Larry Yang, following 2023’s Ride On.
The cast includes Tony Leung Ka Fai, reuniting with Chan after nearly 20 years, along with rising stars Zhang Zifeng, Ci Sha, and Jun (Wen Junhui) from K-pop group Seventeen.
Produced by Victoria Hon, The Shadow’s Edge is backed by iQIYI Pictures, Tao Tickets, Hairun Pictures, and China ChenXiang. The film is expected to release in Chinese theaters later this year.
