Actor Mads Mikkelsen is set to star in Sirius, an action thriller directed by Lee Smith, the Oscar-winning editor best known for his work on Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar and Dunkirk.
This marks Smith’s directorial debut in a project inspired by the real-life Sirius Patrol, the Danish special forces unit tasked with defending Greenland’s extensive and treacherous coastline.
The film, set in the Arctic, brings Mikkelsen into a thrilling narrative alongside a screenplay written by Tony Mosher.
Smith, who has a reputation for his collaborations with renowned directors like Sam Mendes (Empire of Light) and Peter Weir (Master and Commander), brings his expertise in creating gripping cinematic experiences to this exciting new project.
Neon label Decal will release the film domestically in the U.S., marking the label’s first wide release. International rights will be sold at this year’s Cannes Film Market, with Neon also handling foreign sales.
Mikkelsen’s involvement in Sirius follows his string of celebrated performances, and he will work under the creative guidance of a director whose career has been built on high-caliber action and narrative films. Pascal Degove and Matt Williams produce for Future Artists Entertainment, with Deborah Acoca serving as the executive producer.
With Neon’s track record, including the Oscar-winning best picture Anora, the release of Sirius is highly anticipated, adding another significant project to the label’s growing portfolio.
Fans of Mikkelsen and action-packed thrillers are in for a treat with this collaboration, which promises to deliver high-stakes adventure set against the stark and breathtaking backdrop of the Arctic landscape.
