Meta has launched its own AI app called the Meta AI app. This app allows users to chat with Meta’s advanced language model directly, without needing to use Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp.
The app is powered by Meta’s Llama 4 model, which can give fast, human-like responses. You can type or speak your questions.
The app responds in real-time and supports natural voice conversations—but only in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand for now.
To use the app, you log in using your Facebook or Instagram account. This helps the AI offer more personalized answers based on your data.
The app can search the web for recent information and also create or edit images using text or voice commands. For example, you can ask it to make a cartoon version of your selfie or generate a fun scene.
If you own Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, you can pair them with the app and use voice AI through them.
A big part of the app is the Discover feed. Here, users can post their AI creations and interact with others. You can like, comment, or even remix someone else’s prompt. This makes sharing and trying AI prompts easier and more fun.
Currently, the Meta AI app is free to use, but some advanced voice features may become paid in the future. Meta might also include ads in the app, which would be a first for an AI-only platform.
Meta AI is also built into Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. However, if you use it there, you won’t get all the app features like voice chat, Discover feed, or full chat history.
The app still has limited access and features for most users around the world. But Meta may expand it soon and make it more useful globally.
