Lewis Hamilton to Co-Host Met Gala 2025, Celebrating Black Style and Menswear

The 2025 Met Gala will celebrate Black fashion and menswear, with British Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton serving as one of its co-hosts. The annual event, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, takes place on Monday, May 5.

Joining Hamilton as co-chairs are music producer Pharrell Williams, basketball legend LeBron James, actor Colman Domingo, and rapper A$AP Rocky. Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who has led the event for decades, also returns.

This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” explores Black dandyism—a fashion movement where well-dressed Black men have used clothing to express pride, identity, and resistance. The theme draws from Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion and highlights centuries of Black cultural influence in menswear.

The dress code, “Tailored for You,” encourages custom looks inspired by classic tailoring. For the first time in over 20 years, the Met Gala will focus fully on menswear.

The event will be livestreamed globally by Vogue on YouTube and other platforms. Celebrities will walk the famous Met steps in outfits inspired by Black heritage and style, while the public can follow along online and through social media.

Tickets to the Met Gala remain invitation-only. Proceeds benefit the museum’s Costume Institute, supporting fashion exhibitions and research.
