PayPal Coming to Bangladesh? Government Takes Action

PayPal, a popular online payment service, may soon start working in Bangladesh. The government has started the process to bring PayPal to help freelancers and boost the digital economy.

In January 2025, ICT Secretary Sheesh Haider Chowdhury said the government is working to make PayPal available. This will help freelancers receive payments from clients around the world.

Many freelancers in Bangladesh have wanted PayPal for years because it makes international payments easy and fast.

Right now, people in Bangladesh cannot open or use PayPal accounts. This makes it hard for many to work with global clients.

The government is also looking into using PayPal for payments related to SpaceX and Starlink services in the country.

If PayPal becomes available, it will help thousands of freelancers, IT workers, and online businesses grow faster.
