The third season of HBO’s “The White Lotus” takes viewers to a stunning fictional hotel in Thailand, but the reality is even more exciting.
The show’s executive producer, David Bernad, revealed that the series was filmed across four different luxury resorts: Four Seasons Koh Samui, Anantara Bophut Koh Samui, Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, and Rosewood Phuket.
Unlike previous seasons, which were filmed at single locations in Hawaii and Sicily, Season 3 combines these four resorts to create a seamless setting. The Four Seasons Koh Samui and Anantara Bophut are located on the island of Koh Samui, while Anantara Mai Khao and Rosewood are on the island of Phuket.
Bernad explained that while the Four Seasons Koh Samui offered breathtaking views, it didn’t have all the spaces needed for filming.
As a result, the production team used the spa at Anantara Phuket and the dining areas at Rosewood Phuket for certain scenes. The reception area was filmed at Anantara Mai Khao to accommodate the cast and crew.
The decision to film in Thailand was driven by practical considerations, such as favorable weather and film-friendly conditions, but the team quickly fell in love with the country’s people and culture.
“The White Lotus” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO, and fans can look forward to more stunning locations as the season unfolds.
