Marvel’s Spider-Man is Officially Dead!

The Amazing Spider-Man #65

Spider-Man fans are still reeling from the stunning news that Marvel has officially killed off one of its most beloved characters. After a series of close calls in the Eight Deaths of Spider-Man saga, Peter Parker’s time has come to an end — and this time, it’s for good.

The latest issue of The Amazing Spider-Man No. 68 marks the final chapter in Spider-Man’s long journey of resurrection and sacrifice. The storyline has seen Peter die multiple times, only to return thanks to magical extra lives granted by Doctor Doom. But in this latest issue, Spider-Man’s luck runs out.

The Setup: Spider-Man Faces His Biggest Challenge Yet

In the Eight Deaths of Spider-Man arc, Peter is tasked with defeating eight powerful offspring of the demon Cyttorak, each one more formidable than the last. Throughout the trials, Spider-Man has used up some of his extra lives, but still had four left.

However, things take a dark turn when Peter witnesses a future where millions of lives are lost, leading him to abandon his role as a superhero, a decision that costs dearly.

With Peter’s absence, the sixth scion launches an attack, killing four innocent people, including Aunt May. Stricken by guilt, Peter sacrifices his remaining extra lives to bring them back, but without any lives left to fall back on, he faces an insurmountable challenge.

Spider-Man’s Final Moments

In the end, after fighting against the forces tormenting Earth, Peter is fatally struck. One of Cyttorak’s offspring, infected by the Blight — a deadly force from another dimension — snaps Spider-Man’s neck, bringing a definitive end to his journey this time around.

A Hero’s Death, But Not the End

While this might seem like a permanent end, comic book heroes rarely stay gone for long. The Amazing Spider-Man series is set to undergo a soft reboot in April 2025, and fans can expect Peter Parker to return, though the question remains: How will he make his comeback?

The next issue, The Amazing Spider-Man No. 69, is set for release on March 12, 2025, promising new twists in the saga of the web-slinger’s adventures. Spider-Man’s death may be the end for now, but in the world of comics, the story is never truly over.
