YouTube Music Revamps ‘Ask Music’ with Custom Radio Stations and Easier Access

YouTube Music is enhancing its AI-powered “Ask Music” feature, which generates custom radio stations based on user input.

The feature is now more prominent in the Android app, with a new “Ask for music” carousel appearing just below the “Radios for you” section on the Home feed.

What’s New with Ask Music?

Previously, YouTube Music displayed a simple “Ask for music any way you like” card, but the new design showcases a carousel with example prompts, such as “Deep-voice singers”, “New releases”, “Chillwave”, “Indie rock”, and others. These examples update throughout the day, providing fresh inspiration for users looking for new music.

Tapping on one of these examples will start a custom radio station or playlist almost instantly. You can also manually type requests or use the microphone feature for voice input, which takes you directly to the chat UI for an interactive experience.

More Accessible and Engaging

Compared to the previous setup, this new carousel design makes it easier to see and enter prompts for customized music stations. It also streamlines the process, allowing users to quickly express what they’re in the mood for without unnecessary steps.

As of now, Ask Music is available for Premium subscribers in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia on Android. YouTube Music plans to expand it to iOS and more countries in the near future.
