PlayStation has confirmed that Days Gone Remastered will be released for PS5 on April 25, 2025, reigniting fans’ hopes for Days Gone 2.
The announcement follows previous rumors in 2024 and comes as a surprise given that PlayStation had previously turned down a Days Gone sequel. The game’s performance had led to the publisher encouraging fans to move on from the idea of a follow-up.
However, the remaster’s reveal has sparked renewed excitement among the Days Gone community. Fans on the game’s official subreddit have started speculating that the remaster could be a sign that PlayStation is reconsidering a sequel. Some users believe that if Days Gone Remastered sells well, it could prompt PlayStation to greenlight a sequel.
“This is amazing,” said one fan. “If they are remastering it, it means we have a potential for Days Gone 2. [PlayStation] will see how well Days Gone Remastered sells, and if it sells well, they will 100% do the sequel.”
The idea that PlayStation might reconsider its stance on a Days Gone sequel has gained traction since Bend Studio’s live-service game was canceled. The studio has no ongoing projects, which leaves the possibility open for them to shift focus to a Days Gone sequel.
Still, even if Days Gone 2 is in the works, Bend Studio faces challenges. Many key developers, including directors John Garvin and Jeff Ross, left the company after Days Gone 2 was not approved. This leaves a leadership void that could impact the studio’s direction.
For now, Days Gone Remastered will be available for PS5 this April. Those who own the original Days Gone on PS4 can upgrade to the remastered version for just $10.
