Apple is facing delays in the rollout of its highly anticipated AI-powered Siri update, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The company had initially planned to release the update in April with iOS 18.4, but due to engineering challenges, it is now expected to arrive in May with iOS 18.5.

Siri’s Overhaul Facing Challenges

The update is a crucial part of Apple’s broader push into artificial intelligence, known as Apple Intelligence, and will bring a complete makeover to Siri.

However, Gurman notes that the new smart features are not yet working consistently, contributing to the delay.

The revamped Siri is expected to use AI to provide more personalized and accurate responses, as well as offer improved control over apps and the ability to understand what’s on the screen.

Competing with Other AI Assistants

Apple is looking to position Siri to compete with other advanced AI models like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Meta’s Llama.

The delay in Siri’s AI integration comes as the company faces internal struggles to meet deadlines, which could potentially push some iOS 19 features to 2026.

Market Availability

Siri’s AI-powered features are also missing from several key markets, including Continental Europe and China, limiting the reach of Apple Intelligence at this stage.
