Nintendo Switch 2 Coming Soon, But Original Switch Still Supported

Nintendo has confirmed that the original Nintendo Switch will continue to receive support even after the launch of the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 later this year. This news comes as a relief to gamers who may not be ready to upgrade to the new console immediately.

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa recently stated in an interview with Japanese newspaper Sankei that the original Switch will be supported “as long as there is demand.” This means that players who stick with the older console won’t be left behind anytime soon.

Furukawa also addressed concerns about players choosing not to upgrade, saying, “We don’t think the impact of refraining from purchasing is that great.” This suggests that Nintendo is confident in its ability to cater to both new and existing Switch users.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to be officially revealed in a Nintendo Direct event on April 2, 2025. While details about the new console are still scarce, rumors suggest it will feature more advanced hardware and a larger screen.

For now, fans of the original Switch can rest easy knowing their console will remain supported for the foreseeable future.
