Apple is preparing to release its next-generation budget iPhone, the iPhone SE4, also known as the iPhone 16E, in spring 2025.
This model will bring a major design overhaul and premium features at an affordable price.
The iPhone SE4 will replace its outdated small screen and home button with a modern, all-screen design.
The display size will increase from 4.7 inches to 6.1 inches, featuring an OLED panel for better color, contrast, and overall display quality.
Apple is removing Touch ID and introducing Face ID for authentication. Some leaks suggest the iPhone SE4 might include Dynamic Island, giving it a premium look similar to flagship models, but this detail remains uncertain.
Apple is replacing the traditional ring/silent switch with an Action Button, which users can customize for different functions.
Additionally, USB-C will replace the Lightning port, ensuring faster charging and compliance with European regulations.
Despite having a single rear camera, the iPhone SE4 will feature a 48MP sensor, greatly improving photo and video quality.
Users will also get a 2x digital zoom option. The front camera will be upgraded from 7MP to 12MP, making selfies and video calls sharper and clearer.
The iPhone SE4 will be powered by the A18 chip, the same processor as the iPhone 16 series.
This will enable faster performance, better AI features, and a more power-efficient 5G modem designed by Apple.
With a larger battery and better power efficiency from the A18 chip, the iPhone SE4 is expected to offer significantly improved battery life, a weakness in past SE models.
Apple is likely adding better water resistance (up to 6 meters for 30 minutes), satellite connectivity for emergency messages, and crash detection for added safety.
Despite its premium upgrades, the iPhone SE4 (iPhone 16e) is expected to launch at around $500, making it a strong mid-range competitor.
Apple’s goal is to provide a budget iPhone without major compromises, appealing to users who want a powerful and modern device at an affordable price.
The iPhone SE4 could be Apple’s most compelling budget phone yet.
