YouTube Introduces Discord-like Community Feature to Boost Creator-Fan Engagement

YouTube is rolling out its new Communities feature to more creators, allowing them to interact with fans in a dedicated space without relying on platforms like Discord.

Originally launched last fall during the Made for YouTube event, Communities lets creators share text and images while enabling fans to start discussions.

What’s Changing?

  • Communities is available only on mobile for now.
  • Creators can moderate discussions through the Community Hub in YouTube Studio.
  • YouTube is renaming the Community tab to “Posts” to avoid confusion.

How to Get Access

Access is invite-only for now, with invitations sent via email and banners on channel pages. Once invited, creators can activate the feature and start using it.

This move signals YouTube’s push to strengthen direct creator-fan interactions, making its platform more interactive and community-driven. Will it replace Discord for creators?
