Kai Cenat, one of the world’s biggest streamers, shared his thoughts on the epic 2024 rap battle between Drake and Kendrick Lamar in a recent Billboard interview. Despite his close ties to Drake, Cenat admitted Kendrick won the battle in his view.
“I’m cool with Drake,” Cenat said. “So people would expect me to be on Drake’s side. But I’m not going to lie. Kendrick won that battle. I loved every second of it. Like, bro, we got bangers dropping back-to-back, and everybody’s talking about them. It was definitely fire.”
Drake’s reaction to the battle has been more complicated. The rapper sued Universal Music Group (UMG) for defamation over Kendrick’s diss track, “Not Like Us,” accusing the label of enabling the track’s viral spread by avoiding copyright claims against streamers like Cenat.
Cenat, named in the lawsuit, expressed confusion over the allegations. However, he doesn’t believe the controversy has damaged his relationship with Drake.
Cenat’s connections in the rap world and his ability to stay neutral in such situations have allowed him to navigate the fallout without alienating either artist.
Fans are now speculating about potential collaborations between Cenat and Drake, despite the legal drama.
For Cenat, the focus remains on celebrating the music and moments that captivate his audience.
