Google Quick Share Needs Improvement, But It’s Still a Work in Progress

Google’s Quick Share, which merged Samsung’s Quick Share with Google’s Nearby Share in January 2024, has not lived up to expectations.

Despite the promise of a seamless cross-device sharing experience, it often struggles with reliability, making it difficult to send files between Android devices and Chromebooks, and even more so with Windows PCs.

Unlike Apple’s AirDrop, which works smoothly across its ecosystem, Quick Share is inconsistent, failing to connect or complete transfers.

This is frustrating for users, especially when it works only about 50% of the time. While Quick Share has the potential to be a game-changer, the lack of consistent performance makes it more of a hassle than a helpful tool.

Despite its shortcomings, Quick Share is still widely available on Android devices, and its integration with Samsung’s ecosystem is helpful for those within it.

However, Google and Samsung must address the issues, or Quick Share risks becoming another feature that users avoid due to its unreliability.
