Samsung’s highly anticipated tri-fold smartphone, which is expected to rival Huawei’s Mate XT, will have even more limited availability than previously thought.
While earlier reports suggested around 300,000 units would be produced, new information reveals that the number has now been reduced to just 200,000 units.
The device is expected to enter production in the second quarter of 2025, with parts being made from April to June.
The tri-fold smartphone will feature a screen size of just under 10 inches when fully unfolded, though the design is still not finalized.
Samsung has reportedly shared these plans with major component manufacturers, but the device’s complicated manufacturing process means that it will remain a rare release.
Additionally, the report mentions that sales of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold SE have been lower than expected, with fewer than 100,000 units sold so far.
Samsung is also rumored to be working on the Galaxy Z Flip FE, with expectations to sell a total of 7 million foldable devices in 2025.
This includes 3 million Flip7 units, 2 million Fold7 units, 900,000 Flip FE units, and the 200,000 tri-fold units.
